The Nourish Network Healthy Food Retail Resources Action Team, comprised of retailers, academics (including RE-FRESH members), campus services personnel and health promotion officers, developed the “Healthy Retail Toolkit: Step-by-step guide for food outlet staff and managers” (‘the Toolkit’). The Toolkit is in its final stages of completion and will be available for download in late 2022. This report, written by RE-FRESH members, aimed to test the content, concepts, and processes of the Toolkit with retailers, the end-users, to ensure it is fit-for-purpose, practical, accessible, and easy-to-use. Focus groups and interviews were conducted with a cross-section of food service retailers to gather insights and make recommendations regarding the Toolkit, in the context of implementing and maintaining healthy food retail environments. Findings indicated that Toolkit was highly useable, and suggested recommendations for improvements were made. This report then in turn informed the final version of the Toolkit.
