The RE-FRESH: Next Generation Practice Guide series provides evidence-informed, practice-focused guides to support the implementation and sustainment of healthy food retail initiatives.

The guides aim to translate the best available research into clear, actionable recommendations for health promotion practitioners, policymakers, and retailers. The project is an initiative of the NHMRC-funded Centre of Research Excellence for Food Retail Environments for Health: Next Generation (known as RE-FRESH: Next Generation).

What does each guide include?

Each practice guide is designed to:

    • Summarise the best international evidence, including, where possible, evidence produced across the CRE.
    • Provide clear recommendations for policymakers, practitioners and retailers.
    • Link to applied examples (case studies) of recommended policies and practices wherever possible.

Each practice guide is available as both a comprehensive summary and a 1-page infographic.

How are the guides developed?

Every guide receives independent researcher input and enduser expert review prior to publication on the REFRESH: Next Generation website to ensure content is practical, relevant and easy to use in realworld settings.

Peer review ensures each guide is accurate, rigorous, transparent, and aligned with current bestpractice evidence.
