Healthcare services have an opportunity to be great role models for healthy eating for their communities via the food and drinks they sell in their onsite cafes.
The work to progress this across the country – including the recent policy dialogue that brought together representatives from all jurisdictions – is discussed in a new episode of the Prevention Works podcast.
This podcast is produced by The Australian Prevention Partnership Centre and the healthy food retail episode features RE-FRESH Director Alfred Deakin Professor Anna Peeters and Alfred Deakin Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dr Miranda Blake in conversation with Gretchen Miller.
In the podcast you will also hear:
- How collaboration and co-design is at the heart of the research undertaken by RE-FRESH to transform retail food environments,
- Examples of where research has shown that implementing healthy food changes in hospital settings has successfully supported the health of customers and staff without disadvantaging retailers;
- About the role of National Obesity Strategy is guiding efforts moving forward;
- Cases studies from IGA Supermarkets and the YMCA that have proven effective; And MORE!
