RE-FRESH Next Generation health economics lead A/Prof. Jaithri Ananthapavan has drawn together the evidence on the economics of prevention from the Prevention Centre and CERI research

The Prevention Centre and its Collaboration for Enhanced Research Impact (CERI) member Centres of Research Excellence have worked together to synthesise the existing body of evidence on prevention-focused health economics evaluations. Led by RE-FRESH Next Generation CI A/Prof. Jaithri Ananthapavan the research questions were formed through discussion with policy partners focusing on their evidence needs. The resulting synthesis can be used to inform decision-making and advocate for investment in prevention. The synthesis covers broad prevention focus areas from maternal and child health, through to obesity, tobacco harm and falls prevention, and provides a general overview of health economics methods and types of evaluations (and when they should be used) for those without existing knowledge of this area.

The report and a summary of its content can be found on the Prevention Centre website
